non-profit status
Mwana Villages is a registered nonprofit in Congo, Canada, the United States (501(c)3) and France. Each organization works interdependently and collaboratively to support the mission of Mwana Villages in Congo. Each has representative boards of directors and independent financial reporting in accordance with each country’s laws and regulations.
Tax deductibility
Financial donations from the countries in which we maintain nonprofit status are tax-deductible to the full extent permitted by the law of the respective countries.
Financial accountability
Systems for financial accountability for Congo-based operational funds adhere to recommendations of both national and international accounting firms and legal advisors. The oversight and controls of in-country funds are maintained on an ongoing basis by our international boards. Furthermore, Mwana Congo’s accounts are independently audited by a CEMAC accredited accounting firm.
